Investigation of the Role of Helicobacter Pylori ın the Etiopathogenesis of Current Aphthous Stomatitis
نویسنده
چکیده
Nowadays, etiopathogenesis of recurrent aphthous stomatitis is not fully understood. Chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, diseases associated with H. Pylori, often attend this oral pathology. It is acknowledged, that H. Pylori is a conditional-pathogenic microbe which is included in normal mucosalflora of the gastrointestinal tract and oral cavity. Oral cavity appears to be a secondary reservoir for the microorganisms and also a source of gastric reinfection after the eradicative treatment in case of gastroduodenal pathologies. H. Pylori has got ability to enhance aggressive factors and considerably reduce mucous membrane protective factors. In order to carry out further investigations on this issue, we have initiated observation on the patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis. The aim of the study was to determine whether there is a correlation between Helicobacter Pylori infection and recurrent aphthous stomatitis. The results of the given investigation show there is a higher possibility that the role of Helicobacter Pylori in the etiopathogenesis of recurrent oral ulcers (aphthae) is significant.

Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common disease, which several etiologic factors have been considered for it. The infectious agents and immunological factors are the most suspected causes. Recently a few studies with varied results have been done to clarify the role of Helicobacter Pylori (H.pylori) in etiology of RAS. Objective: To find correlations between serum IgG and Ig...

Microbial factors may play a role in the pathogenesis of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS). Because of similarities in the characteristics of peptic ulcers and oral aphthous ulcers, it seems reasonable to hypothesize that Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) could play a role in the development of RAS. The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between H. pylori and RAS using t...

Background/Aim. Helicobacter (H.) pylori is a widespread bacterium and its involvement in pathogenesis of gastric diseases is well-known. However, H. pylori role in etiology of other histologically similar conditions, especially recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is still controversial. Research regarding H. pylori and its association with RAS, as well as the treatment options were always cond...

BACKGROUND/AIMS The aim of the present study was to investigate whether Helicobacter pylori causes or triggers recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) through cytokine gene polymorphism and/or cobalamin deficiency. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-six patients with RAS and 130 patients without RAS were genotyped for IL-1β (-511C/T) and IL-6 (-174G/C) and evaluated for H. pylori infection and serum co...

BACKGROUND Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a recurrent painful ulcerative disorder that commonly affects the oral mucosa. Local and systemic factors such as trauma, food sensitivity, nutritional deficiencies, systemic conditions, immunological disorders and genetic polymorphisms are associated with the development of the disease. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a gram-negative, microa...
